Greenwich Fertility and IVF Center P.C.
All IVF monitoring, inclusive of all blood and ultrasound monitoring as well as physician management, of the IVF cycle takes place at the Greenwich Fertility and IVF Center for our patient’s convenience as well as continuity of care. Only two trips to NYU’s Manhattan office will be required, one on the day of the egg retrieval and the other on the day of the embryo transfer. Working closely as a team with our physicians, NYU’s medical and embryology staff are experts in these specialized ART laboratory techniques. The embryologists are responsible for the preparation and fertilization of sperm and eggs in the laboratory and for the development of these embryos until it is time to transfer them back into the uterus. Once our patients receive their embryo transfer at NYU, they return back to the Greenwich Fertility Center for monitoring, pregnancy test, and any other required medical services.
We believe the combination of the convenience, comfort, and personalized services our IVF patients receive from the Greenwich Fertility and IVF Center along with the expertise and success rates of the NYU physicians ART services, are a winning combination for our patients.
Our nursing and medical staff works closely with each patient to help the patient or couple best understand their fertility options and treatments. Patients are supplied with written educational materials necessary to answer all of their questions and to ensure that partners maintain a complete understanding and comfort level with the treatments. Comprehensive IVF teaching sessions are held for patients undergoing in vitro fertilization and all patients have access to our fertility lending library.
Achieving a pregnancy may have significant emotional impact on a couple. Since emotional health is just as important as physical health, supportive counseling services are available to the couple as well. All counseling sessions are conducted in a discreet and confidential manner.
Our program has teamed with Greenwich Hospital's Healthy Living Center and Integrative Medicine programs to make available to our patients a series of stress reducing Mind/Body services. These services include therapeutic massage, yoga, acupuncture, nutritional counseling, and "Priming for Pregnancy," a mind body series of relaxation classes to enhance fertility.

To maximize the chances of delivering a healthy baby, CFA offers and recommends certain screening tests to assess your risk for passing on various genetic diseases, before you begin trying to conceive.
Based on your family history and ethnicity, we begin by identifying which diseases you are most at risk for being a carrier of, and recommend screening the female partner first for those diseases. If genetic screening identifies that she is a carrier of a particular disease, we then test the male partner. If both partners are carriers of a genetic disease, then there is a significant risk of passing on that disease, and we advise that you consult with a genetic counselor prior to pregnancy.
Genetic testing during pregnancy may also be necessary, if the carrier state of both partners is not determined until after conception has occurred. Chromosomal testing during pregnancy includes chorionic villus sampling (CVS), usually done between 10 and 12 weeks of gestation; or amniocentesis which is performed between 16 and 18 weeks of pregnancy.
Infertility is a common problem experienced by many couples. About 15 to 20% of couples will not conceive after one year of trying. After one year, couples should strongly consider obtaining a fertility evaluation.Infertility can be extremely frustrating and stressful to couples trying to conceive. It is important for couples to know that virtually all cases of male infertility can be overcome, using the basic to the more advanced treatment options available.
Abnormal semen analyses can result from a variety of causes, including problems related to anatomical, hormonal, genetic, or infectious causes. In many cases, male infertility can be overcome with simple medical treatment. In other cases, a surgical approach to the problem can lead to the formation of normal sperm. Using advanced treatment options, even the most significant cases of male infertility can still be overcome.
When the number of sperm is extremely low, an individual sperm can be injected into the egg by a process called intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). This revolutionary technique is now used quite frequently to help couples conceive who otherwise would not have been able to have their own genetic children.

Dr. Chacho is chief of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Bridgeport Hospital. Board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility and Obstetrics and Gynecology, (not all fertility specialists are board certified) he was the first specialist in his field to practice in southern Fairfield County.
Dr. Chacho trained at the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, the program that produced the first IVF pregnancy and the first IVF baby in Illinois. His studies involving endometriosis and mechanisms by which it affects fertility have received national recognition.
In addition to his consulting role, he maintains a private practice devoted to the treament of infertility, endometriosis, fibroids, menopausal symptoms and other reproductive problems. His practice includes the use of microsurgery, operative laser laproscopy and IVF. He has served as an ad hoc reviewer for Fertility and Sterility, one of the premiere reproductive medical journals.
Dr. Chacho is a fellowship trained microsurgeon who has been performing successful reversal of tubal ligation for over twenty years. He completed his fellowship in 1984 before the era of IVF. At that time, tubal reversal (reanastamosis) was the only way that a patient who had had a tubal ligation could conceive. The best pregnancy rates were achieved with microsurgery.
Reversals are performed on an outpatient basis and can be done with the traditional approach which utilizes a three inch "bikini-cut" in the lower Abdomen. A new laparscopic approach is also available for those patients who may choose this option.
